I have a handful of very good friends. Over time, I want to share them with you. Meet Lesley. Here she is at Desi's Birthday Party last week. Over the years, Lesley and I have spent untold hours together sitting on my front porch. It's there that our talk turns to children, life, what we love, what drives us crazy, worldly events ~ everything. Sometimes we don't talk and that's OK too. She likes Silence and that's one of the things I adore and appreciate most about her.
Very smart. Very funny (without knowing it). Great legs. I met Lesley when she appeared in ballet class at age 12. Gangly. Shy. Alert. 31 years have passed since that day. Lesley became my student assistant (I was 27 then and just opening my dance studio) and she initially watered the plants, cleaned the mirrors, helped with the little ones and answered the phone. She grew with my business and eventually became my everything ~ secretary, bookkeeper, instructor & confidant. We live across the street from one another and today that 12 year old is one of the most-loved women in our little town. She taught ballet lessons and exercise classes at my studio for years, married Charlie, is raising two teenaged boys, wore a wig while she went thru chemo and always delivers food to Desi & I when she cooks a feast. Thank you, Lesley, for walking thru my door 31 years ago. xoxo Amy
