  • Orphaned Baby Elephants
So nice to see that the babies finally have a prominent name attached to their plight. Please click the link (above) to view a page from the orphanage and at the bottom of the page is a link to a wonderful video Kristin made at the orphanage.

From Dame Daphne Sheldrick:

Watercolors from the Nursery

  • Each month I receive a lovely watercolor depicting a scene from the nursery. We have printed many of them out and placed them in frames to decorate our home.

  • Sammy loved kittens, tutus & ballerinas. But mostly he loved us. He died a peaceful death as an old man and left us with broken hearts.

Our Old Man

  • Baby Bear died a peaceful death just before Christmas 2009. He was almost 17. Bear was a warrior. A brilliant feline. A blessing to our lives.

Julie Marie

Hi Amy, how cute your bluejay is!... Looks like you go through as many peanuts as we do!... Baby is adorable, love that "who, me?" look in the last photo...our silly bluejays will climb right up our back steps and yap at us through the window until we take out more peanuts... Tessy loves watching them too and their silly antics!... Also read your post about our precious orphaned elephants... I must buy that magazine... I will continue to support these magnificent creatures as long as I am able to (which I plan on being the rest of my life!)... Happy Fourth of July to you and Desi and your babies... xoxo Julie Marie

Amy Arnaz

*Thank you Julie Marie* We had a wonderful Fourth of July. Went cherry picking with a girlfriend and enjoyed this lovely day. Home now, and I bet if I put more peanuts out the clowns will be here in an instant. Thank goodness peanuts are affordable. xoxo Amy

Privet and Holly

Hi Amy! I tried to
leave a comment over
the weekend on your
elephant post, but no
form popped up for me;
so frustrating! My children
are "taxed" 10% on their
allowance each month and
at the end of the year they
pick a charity to gift their
"taxes" to.....We still need
to invest 2010, so I am
suggesting that they adopt
elephants! Love this. Also,
excited about your blooming
possibilities. My heart is
in the Pac NW and we are looking
at colleges in Oregon and
Washington for Elizabeth this
xx Suzanne
PS: Your little hunter is
very, very cute....little dickens.

Long skirts

  • "I’m very fond of men. I think they are wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error…" ~Tasha Tudor

My little mother Libby

  • Hi Mom! I hope you have somehow figured out how to read my blog. I have a new, bionic knee that should last till I'm 80. Wish you were here so we could share everything with you. Miss you lots.... Wish you would have lived longer so you could see your beautiful granddaughters all grown up.
