  • Orphaned Baby Elephants
So nice to see that the babies finally have a prominent name attached to their plight. Please click the link (above) to view a page from the orphanage and at the bottom of the page is a link to a wonderful video Kristin made at the orphanage.

From Dame Daphne Sheldrick:

  • “Every person that buys ivory has killed an elephant and its dependent young and has caused immeasurable sorrow and suffering to many others.” Dr Dame Daphne Sheldrick MBE, MBS

Watercolors...

Watercolors from the Nursery

  • Each month I receive a lovely watercolor depicting a scene from the nursery. We have printed many of them out and placed them in frames to decorate our home.

Sammy

  • Sammy loved kittens, tutus & ballerinas. But mostly he loved us. He died a peaceful death as an old man and left us with broken hearts.

Our Old Man

  • Baby Bear died a peaceful death just before Christmas 2009. He was almost 17. Bear was a warrior. A brilliant feline. A blessing to our lives.

Happy B-Day Miss Amy!! My "inner-child" says to me, surely there must have been a typo on my birth certificate - ha ha :)

*Thank you Julie Marie* I have had the MOST fun the last 2 days announcingmy grief over turning 60 and receiving oodles of hugs, compliments and laughsin return. Gosh its fun to have friends who played along with me. And thankyou for your sweet card! It put a big smile on my face. xoxo Amy

Amy Arnaz

*Julene* Now THAT explains it! There must have been a typo on my birth certificate too. Hahahahaha! Thanks for the birthday wish. xoxo Amy

Happy belated birthday, Amy! Glad to hear you had a wonderful day. The "perfect" birthday card from a friend made me laugh (even though I'm a "dreaded Democrat" :-) - I know Deborah would have loved it too!

Amy Arnaz

*Very funny Jon* I still love my Democratic friends relatives regardless of the fact I think they are wrong. That includes you! xoxo Amy

Allen Chandler

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! You have reached a milestone, Amy. 60 is FAR from old. Just don't consent to an interview with a whipper-snapper journalist fresh out of college! I have heard them refer to 60-year olds as elderly. Of course, these are the same people who refer to bank robbers and serial killers as gentlemen when reporting the news!!! :-) The card is priceless!

Well I am a day or two late, but that just makes the special times last longer! Happy Happy Birthday! And may I say the sunflowers are just gorgeous!
You are now the 4th person I know who has 9-14 for a birthday!
Must've just been an all around wonderful day! No matter what year!
have a wonderful Sunday!

Amanda

*Thank you Allen* We have been swamped the last few days presenting Chautauqua in our Theatre so I only just saw your birthday wish this second. I appreciate your 60 is far from old comment. I want to live to be a very old, lucid, happy woman so I will take your comment to heart. ~ Amy

Amy Arnaz

*Karen* Your birthday wish was most welcome being a few days late because I have been in Birthday mode all week. The beautiful sunflower bouquet is going bye-bye today just as the Birthday week comes to a close. Thank you for sending sweet wishes my way. xoxo Amy

Amy Arnaz

*Hi Amanda* Oh! Thank you for sending something in the mail to me. I love presents. We closed our PO Box months ago but our postal carrier will hopefully bring it to our theatre which is where our mail goes nowadays. Living in a small town has benefits. I will keep my eyes open. Thanks so much ~ Amy

My mom turned 61 this year. She has her twin sister to go through it with her.

The past few days we have had Shane and Owen and they were asking where Grandma was. My mom was on a Quilting retreat so she wasn't here while they were here. My Dad told them: she is on a quilting retreat and is camping with ALL ladies. Well Owen, who just turned 3 1/2 years old in July, didn't hear him quite right. He goes: OH. he paused for a few seconds then goes: She's camping with OLD Ladies?

Amy Arnaz

*Hi Juli* Hahahahaha! Thank you for the funny story. Children sure do come up with the funniest comments. All the best ~ Amy
